Introduction to Suicide Prevention: Level 1

This half-day or full-day training session introduces participants to the issue of suicide, explaining the context of suicide in our society, and the meaning of suicide in people’s lives. Suicide recognition, assessment, intervention and prevention methods are the focus.

A non-judgmental approach based in care, compassion, and concern with the suicidal individual is presented in order to provide for a solid foundation of accurate suicide assessment and client safety. This workshop is offered off site and on a request basis at this time.

Please contact us at (204) 784-4066 for more information.

Advanced Suicide Prevention Training: Level II

Few clients challenge us more than clients struggling with suicide. Suicidal clients are dealing with deep and profound pain that can cause the service provider to feel overwhelmed and inadequate. The responsibility is great, and we are expected to assess the situation accurately. Given the gravity of the situation, it is paramount that we possess best practice and current suicide assessment and intervention information and skills.

Advanced Suicide Prevention Training (ASPT) explores these areas in-depth, placing emphasis on an understanding of trauma and trauma-informed suicide assessment. ASPT goes beyond the basics and towards more detailed assessment and intervention strategies to support clients on their road to healing. Relationship building and the impact of the work on providers is also a central focus.

This training is for service providers who are providing ongoing support to their clients. Participants must have previous training or practice in suicide prevention and intervention and be working with clients in an ongoing capacity.
