Life In Balance

What is Life in Balance?

Klinic’s Life in Balance Program promotes emotional and physical wellness through a variety of activities. From the power of meditation to the importance of sleep, nutrition and coping strategies, Klinic’s Life in Balance activities offer the opportunity to explore different approaches to physical and mental wellbeing.

Calm in the Storm

Stress is a daily part of life that many people find difficult to manage. Klinic offers a 7-week group that helps participants learn about stress, understand the physical and mental impacts of stress, and develop strategies to improve wellbeing. Each session includes information, group discussion and practice.

Next group is being offered in January 2024.

Details:
Sessions run weekly every Wednesday from January 10th to February 14th from 1:00-2:30pm on site at Klinic (167 Sherbrook Street).

Call 204-784-4012 or email Erin (ephillips@klinic.mb.ca) to complete a brief intake questionnaire. Successful participants will be contacted with further registration information upon completing the intake. Spaces are limited.

Auricular Acupuncture (Ear Acupuncture)

Based on an ancient form of Traditional Chinese medicine, auricular acupuncture is used in many settings around the world as a complementary treatment for people who are struggling with addictions, anxiety, chronic pain and symptoms resulting from trauma. Five small needles are inserted into each ear to gently stimulate acupuncture points believed to promote feelings of calmness and wellbeing. Clients who attend auricular acupuncture sessions have reported decreased anxiety, sounder sleep, increased ability to focus attention, reduced irritability, less physical pain and reduced cravings for drugs and alcohol.

Klinic offers auricular acupuncture in a group setting. Following the insertion of the acupuncture needles, participants sit quietly and listen to soothing music.

Mindfulness Meditation

Training ourselves to be fully present in the moment can be a helpful method for managing thoughts, feelings and stress.

In this 60 minute session, participants learn simple sitting and walking meditations in a group setting.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Based on the MBSR program developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Klinic’s 8 week course is intended to help participants learn to live more fully in the present. Classes focus on teaching and practicing mindful activities, guided mindfulness meditation, gentle stretching/mindful yoga poses, mindful walking and group discussion on participants’ practice experiences.

This course is based on active participation in class and practicing mindful activities at home on a daily basis.

Mindful Self-Compassion  (for Klinic clients only)

All human beings experience emotional pain and sometimes struggle to manage difficult emotions. Unfortunately we can also be our own harshest critic. Learning to be compassionate with ourselves is a skill that can be learned. This 8-week course is based on active participation in class and daily practice at home.

Yoga (for Klinic clients only)

Yoga is one of the oldest practices of mind, body and spirit connection. Yoga helps promote wellbeing through a sequencing of poses done in a safe and positive environment. Klinic offers free weekly yoga sessions to Klinic clients.
