At Klinic, we believe that everyone has a story. Stories help us understand the world and connect with others. They help us feel like we belong. Sharing stories can bring people together and inspire change.

We use storytelling to:

  • Share real experiences.
  • Build stronger communities.
  • Support our work in mental, physical, and community health.
  • Help raise money so we can continue helping people.

But most importantly, we share stories in a way that puts people first.

Our storytelling promise

At Klinic, we follow a special pledge to make sure we tell stories with care and respect. This is what we promise:

  • Tell stories the way we’d want our own told.
  • Always treat people with respect.
  • Clearly explain why we’re collecting a story and how it will be used.
  • Use a translator if needed.
  • Ask if someone wants to be named or stay private.
  • Get full permission before using photos, videos, or quotes.
  • Share stories in ways that are kind and hopeful.
  • Tell the truth, even when it’s complex.
  • Never use photos or words that make someone look bad or fit a stereotype.
  • Listen to feedback and include it.
  • Respect the voice and wishes of the person sharing their story.
  • Be open to learning and improving.
  • Protect people’s privacy and follow the law.
  • Ask for help if we’re unsure about sharing a story.
  • Not share a story if we can’t tell it in the right way.
  • Take responsibility for how we share stories.

This pledge is based on the work of Ethical Storytelling™.

Want to share your story?

You don’t need to be a professional writer to have a story. Your story could be about:

  • A kind moment with a staff member.
  • How a service at Klinic helped you.
  • A time you felt safe and heard.
  • A challenge you faced and overcame.

Every story matters. Yours might inspire someone else.

We’d love to hear from you. Email us at: communications@klinic.mb.ca.

Let’s keep building a community of care, one story at a time.
