Position statements
As a community health centre, Klinic is built on values of social justice, harm reduction, and equity. Our work goes beyond individual care. We also look at the bigger picture and speak out on issues that impact our community.
Where we stand
1. Equitable access to care
Healthcare should meet people’s unique needs. Klinic removes barriers and works with communities to make care fair and accessible for all.
2. Poverty
Poverty harms health and limits opportunity. Klinic supports access to basic needs and works with others to reduce poverty’s impact on health.
3. Trauma-informed practice
Many people live with trauma. Klinic trains staff and builds safe, respectful services that support healing and avoid re-traumatizing clients.
4. Violence
Violence affects everyone’s health and safety. Klinic supports survivors, educates communities, and works with others to prevent violence and promote healing.
5. Interprofessional collaboration
Klinic staff from different programs work together to give people better care by sharing knowledge, respecting roles, and making joint decisions.
6. Sexual exploitation
Klinic supports people affected by sexual exploitation with respect, safety, harm reduction, and help to heal, leave, or stay safe.
