Project Choices: Who it’s for and how it works

Project Choices is about helping you explore how alcohol, sex, and birth control affect your health. Many pregnancies happen by surprise. Some people may drink without knowing they are pregnant. The safest option during pregnancy is no alcohol. This program gives you the facts so you can make decisions that feel right for you.

Youth and teens who are 12 years of age and older who drink alcohol, are sexually active, and might get pregnant.

You can take part in up to four free sessions with a counsellor, plus one visit with a nurse. Topics include:

  • Alcohol use and norms.
  • Birth control options and STI prevention.
  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
  • Setting personal goals.
  • Local support and resources.
