Drop-In Counselling

Access to a counsellor through Klinic’s Drop-In counselling program is offered on a first come, first served basis to all members of our community. To attend a Drop-In session, you are invited to visit Klinic Community Health at 167 Sherbrook St and let the front desk staff know that you would like to speak to a Drop-In counsellor. If all counsellors are assisting other people, you may have to wait but the front desk staff will ensure that you are seen in turn. Drop-In counselling begins at 12:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Please see the side panel for specific hours of operation.

Please bring your Manitoba Health card with you. There is limited visitor parking behind the building and street parking available on Sherbrook Street.

Please note that all visitors will be asked to answer a standard COVID questionnaire wear a mask while in the building.

How can counselling help?

Counselling is a process of helping someone to make the changes they would like to make in their lives. Counselling can differ from talking to family and friends in that counsellors are trained to be neutral, keep information confidential and have skills to help people learn about themselves. In the non-judgemental environment of counselling sessions, people can receive the understanding and support that they need to clarify issues, explore options, develop strategies, practice new skills and ultimately, make change.

Confidentiality

We take your right to confidentiality seriously. We will only share information about you to those outside of Klinic if we have your permission, except in the following situations:

Child Welfare: The law requires all citizens to report child abuse and neglect. If we believe that a child is at risk, we will ask the appropriate agency for help.

Threats of Harm: If we believe that you or someone else may suffer serious harm or death, we will do what is necessary for safety. We may need to ask an appropriate agency for help.

Justice System Request: In rare cases, the courts or police may ask to see client records. We will always try to tell you about any actions we need to take to keep everyone safe.
