Klinic Welcome Volunteers

In July 2020, Klinic Community Health moved to our new home at 167 Sherbrook street, and began piloting a new volunteer opportunity –  Welcome Volunteers!

Our Welcome Volunteers  play the very important role of welcoming clients and community members into our new space at 167 Sherbrook, keeping our front reception area organized and comfortable, and helping to ensure that Klinic staff and our visitors are following proper steps to reduce the spread of covid-19.

Welcome Volunteer Requirements

We are looking for applicants who can welcome visitors into our space with kindness and compassion, who can reflect Klinic’s values through their work, and who bring an openness to learning and growth. We’ll provide extra training to help you do this work in a way that feels trauma-informed and supportive of equity and choice, and some extra learning about communication, and privacy in health care.

Our Welcome Volunteers will be one of the first people visitors speak with when they arrive at Klinic, so English language skills and communications skills are especially important. Extra languages and knowledge of different cultures would definitely be an asset, as well as experience living in our neighborhood. Welcome Volunteers will help with screening visitors, and should have some comfort in approaching and speaking to new people; and will also help with sanitizing high-traffic and high-touch spaces.

Applicants will need to attend an interview and provide some references before beginning in this position, and also need to be willing to apply for a Criminal Record Check, a Child Abuse Registry Check, and an Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Shifts are scheduled Monday to Friday from 8am to 11am, 11am to 2pm, 2pm to 5pm, and 5pm to 8pm, (with the exception of no 5-8pm shift on Friday evenings), and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, and 1pm to 4pm. We ask new applicants to commit to a regular 3-hour shift each week, for a minimum of at least 6 months.
