SPEAK (Suicide Postvention Education Awareness and Knowledge)

If you are new to the tragedy of suicide, pain and despair may be your companions. We at SPEAK hope you find some time to rest your burden and share it with those of us who need no explanation. You are not alone. We can help. The fact that someone died by suicide does not diminish our love for them, their value, the contribution they made to our families and communities and our right and need to celebrate and honour their lives and accomplishments.

The grief process following a suicide may be very different from grief experienced with other losses. Grief is an active process and each person’s process is unique. There is no one correct way to grieve. What we do know is that with sharing and support we can move to hope and healing.

SPEAK is the suicide bereavement information and support program of Klinic Community Health. This programs offers:

Peer Support Group: Monthly drop-in support group for adults bereaved by suicide. Meetings are generally held the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. If you are considering attending please call SPEAK at(204) 784-4064.

Individual and Group Counselling: Klinic offers both individual and group counselling to people bereaved by suicide. Counselling groups are closed and typically run for twelve weeks. Groups are facilitated by a trained counsellor experienced in suicide loss and trauma recovery.
