FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th WINNIPEG MANITOBA: This year’s theme for World Suicide Prevention Day is building communities of hope and resilience. Klinic Community Health and the Winnipeg Suicide Prevention Network invite you to recognize this important day at an event held this afternoon.
What: World Suicide Prevention Day Event
When: Friday, September 8th – 12:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
Where: Vimy Ridge Park on Portage & Home Street. In the event of rain, event will be held at Klinic Community Health, 870 Portage Ave.
A spokesperson on behalf of Klinic Community Health will be available to speak with media before and after the event.
“This theme speaks to the importance of coming together to prevent suicide and to support those who are bereaved by suicide loss”, says Mary Jo Bolton, Clinical Director of Klinic Community Health. “The event, ahead of the 15th annual World Suicide Prevention Day, which falls on September 10th, will be focused on remembrance and hope and is open to all community members and the public.”
The agenda includes speaker Albert McLeod, Co-Director of Two-Spirited People of Manitoba Inc., a meditative walk of remembrance and drumming courtesy of the Dream Catchers Program, a part of Klinic Community Health.
